Adult Trail Trekkers are adventuring offsite today during leaf peeper season to explore Lake James State Park located 2 hours northwest from McDowell in Burke and McDowell Counties 50 miles from Asheville. This hike is considered easy to moderate terrain with about 3.5-5 miles of trails for the day. We will explore the woodland flora and fauna while enjoying the reflection of the fall color off this beautiful lake. Transporation, a snack, and a naturalist guide are included. Pre-registration required.Participants must be able to hike 5 miles on uneven terrain. Bring a bag lunch and plenty of water. Dress for the weather in near Burke County, NC. Don't forget a hat and sunscreen.
This hike qualifies for our 100-mile hike club. Come prepared to hike on uneven terrain. Please wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes and dress appropriately for the weather. Please bring your own water bottle.
