Smokey Bear: Fire Resilience

Four Rivers Environmental Education Center • 25055 West Walnut Lane ChannahonIL  60410 Organized by Forest Preserve District of Will County

About this event

Description

Seeing a forest or field that has been burned may be concerning at first. Will the trees survive? Are the animals going to be OK? Walk with a naturalist to learn about the adaptations these plants and animals have that help them withstand a controlled burn or wildfire. Please dress for the weather and use caution while walking outdoors as snow and ice may be present on the paths and in the parking lot. The hike will be up to 2 miles over paved and natural surfaces across uneven terrain. Four Rivers is an accessible facility.

Find even more inspiration by visiting “Smokey Bear: The Rudy Wendelin Collection.” Be sure to see all 19 pieces on display across participating nature centers from Jan. 17 to March 2.
