About this event
Discover the art of bonsai and penjing! 5th-8th grade students will learn the fundamentals of shaping miniature trees, including pruning, wiring, and styling techniques, while exploring the cultural history behind these living sculptures. Through hands-on practice, participants will cultivate their own small bonsai or penjing landscapes, using artistic principles to create natural, harmonious designs. As a special highlight, the class will include a field trip to the National Bonsai & Penjing Museum, where students will experience world-class collections of these living masterpieces up close. This unique opportunity allows young artists and nature enthusiasts to gain inspiration from expert displays and deepen their appreciation for this centuries-old tradition.
