Join the City of Agoura Hills for an day at the California African American Museum and the Natural History Museum of Los Angles. At the CAAM we will explore the World Without End: The George Washington Carver Project. “World Without End showcases Carver’s rarely seen artworks alongside his laboratory equipment, paint samples, and formulas. The exhibition also features contemporary artists, scientists, and engineers working in dialogue with Carver and his interests in nature, biology, activism, and sustainability, among them Los Angeles-based assemblage artist Judson Powell, whose research into Carver inspired the exhibition.” Bring a lunch and enjoy it on the South Lawn in Exposition Park before heading over to the Natural History Museum to discover Reframing Dioramas: The Art of Preserving Wilderness. NHM is restoring and reopening a diorama hall that has been closed for decades to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the dioramas. Visitors will experience immersive new installations that call attention to dioramas as a unique combination of art and science and explore biodiversity, ecology, conservation, colonialism, and changing museum display techniques. Explore the rest of the NHM before returning.
Pacific Standard Time Art is a collection of exhibitions that explore some of the most urgent problems of our time through past and present connections between art and science in a series of exhibitions, public programs, and other resources. These exhibitions will explore “topics like ancient cosmologies, Indigenous sci-fi, environmental justice, and artificial intelligence”
